How do I compress a PDF?
Choose PDFs or drop documents into the workspace. Select Compress, choose a quality preset and output folder, then click Compress PDFs. Each run saves into a new folder. Open the result or use Show in Finder when it finishes.
Does compression preserve selectable text and forms?
Compression creates image-based pages and is best for scans or image-heavy PDFs. Selectable text, hyperlinks, interactive fields, document structure, and digital signatures are not preserved in the compressed copy. Review the result before sharing. The original is never changed.
Will every PDF become smaller?
No. Savings depend on the source, particularly its images and existing compression. If the compressed file is not smaller, Pagivelle saves an unchanged original-quality copy. Compact uses 96 dpi, Balanced 144 dpi, and Detailed 200 dpi, with a maximum of 6,000 pixels per edge.
Can I combine PDFs and choose their order?
Yes. Choose Merge, add at least two PDFs, and use the up/down arrows to order them. The result contains all pages in that order.
How do I delete or reorder pages?
Choose Delete pages and enter the pages to remove, such as 2, 4-6. At least one page must remain. Extract & reorder instead takes the pages to keep, in the order you specify, such as 5, 1-3. Reversed ranges and repeated pages are supported. Page selections apply to every PDF in the queue.
Do page-editing tools preserve the document?
Merge, Split, Extract & reorder, Rotate, and Delete pages keep page text and artwork without rasterizing them. Document-level bookmarks, forms, links between pages, and digital signatures may not survive editing. Pagivelle saves new copies so you can always return to the original.
Does text export include OCR?
No. Export text reads the selectable text already in the PDF. Scanned pages without an existing text layer need OCR in another application. A document with no selectable text produces a clear error.
Can it open password-protected PDFs?
This version does not process encrypted PDFs. Use an application in which you have permission to unlock the document, export an unlocked copy, then open that copy in Pagivelle.
What happens if I cancel or a file fails?
Cancellation and processing errors remove the output folder for that run. Originals remain untouched. If the app or Mac stops unexpectedly, an incomplete run folder may remain; you can remove it in Finder. Choose a writable destination with enough free space and try again.
Are documents uploaded anywhere?
No. The app has no networking or cloud processing. If you choose a folder synchronized by iCloud Drive or another provider, that service may sync the files under your existing settings.
Where can I download Pagivelle?
Pagivelle is available on the Mac App Store. Use the Download on the Mac App Store button on its product page. Requires macOS 15 or later.
