About this policy
Captrille is a macOS screen and audio recorder published by alakaza, based in France. This policy explains how the Captrille application handles information. For privacy questions, contact contact@alakaza.app.
Screen and audio stay on your Mac
Captrille processes your selected screen or window, microphone input, and output audio locally on your Mac. It does not transmit recordings, screen images, audio, device names, filenames, or recording contents to alakaza or a cloud recording service. No Captrille account or internet connection is required for recording.
What you choose to capture
You select a display or window using macOS controls and choose whether to record output audio and microphone input. These sources can contain personal information, private conversations, notifications, or content from other apps. Output audio can include apps outside the selected video window. Only record material you are entitled to capture and obtain permission from other people when needed.
Permissions and recording indicators
Captrille uses Apple’s screen and audio capture APIs and the permissions managed by macOS. Recording starts when you choose Start recording and the required permissions are available. The app and its menu-bar control show recording state and provide a way to stop. You can manage or revoke permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Local previews, devices, and preferences
The app reads the available audio-device names so you can choose inputs and outputs. A still preview of the selected screen or window is held locally while the app is open. Captrille stores a local security-scoped bookmark to remember and access your chosen save folder. The app does not send these details to the developer.
Saved recordings and temporary files
Captrille saves recordings to your selected folder. It creates a source MOV containing captured media there before producing the final MP4. Successful exports without warnings remove the source MOV. Failed or interrupted recordings may leave a source or partial export file for recovery. Saved files remain on your Mac until you manage or delete them; quitting or uninstalling the app does not automatically delete recordings or source files.
No in-app tracking or developer collection
Captrille has no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, account system, cloud storage service, or developer-operated crash-reporting service. Alakaza does not receive personal data through the application’s recording workflow.
Services you choose separately
If you save to a folder synchronized by iCloud Drive or another storage provider, that provider may synchronize the files according to your settings and its privacy policy. Files you share through another app are handled by that app or service. App Store purchases, downloads, and any diagnostic sharing you enable through Apple are governed separately by Apple’s settings and policies.
If you contact support
If you email contact@alakaza.app, alakaza receives your email address, message, and any files you choose to attach so that it can respond to your request. This is separate from local recording. Please do not send private recordings, passwords, or other sensitive material unless it is necessary to explain the problem. You can use the same address to ask about your support correspondence or request its deletion.
Your choices
You control the selected video and audio sources, when capture starts and stops, and where files are saved. You can revoke macOS permissions, choose a different save folder, and manage or delete MP4 recordings, source MOVs, and partial exports in Finder. There is no Captrille online account or server-side recording library to delete.
Policy updates
Changes to this policy will be published here with an updated date. Captrille’s behavior and this policy will be reviewed together when the app changes.
